When you think about all of the things that affect how energy-efficient your Vancouver home is, you may not realize that your furnace thermostat has a large impact. For this reason, if you want to say “goodbye” to outlandish heating bills and “hello” to energy savings, having a smart thermostat installed in your home may be a good idea.
WHAT IS A SMART THERMOSTAT?
If you haven’t upgraded your thermostat, the one in your home likely acts as a control panel for your heating system, allowing you to manually change the temperature in your home. A step up from standard thermostats are programmable thermostats, which give you the ability to program the temperature in your home. Smart thermostats take things even further by allowing you to do things like:
- Control The Climate In Your Home From A Remote Location
- Slow Your Home’s Energy Consumption
- Adjust The Temperature In Your Home Based On Factors Like Humidity And The Time Of Day
However, The Main Thing That Makes Smart Thermostats So “Smart” Is The Fact They Learn From Your Behaviors And Adjust The Temperature In Your Home Accordingly.
FACTORS TO CONSIDER
Before you get too excited and have us come and install a new thermostat in your home, there are several things you need to think about beforehand. For example, smart thermostats are an investment. For this reason, we don’t necessarily recommend installing one in your home if you plan to move in the near future.
You also need to think about whether or not a programmable thermostat will be able to do what you need. However, if you have problems remembering to turn off the heat while you’re gone for the day and you don’t want to deal with the hassle of managing your home’s temperature, a smart thermostat may be for you. If you’re still unsure, at Campbell Care, we’d be more than happy to help you figure out if a smart thermostat is the right fit for your home.
